New York: A Writer’s Final Frontier

It seems everyone I know is moving to New York. In just the past six months, four of my good friends have gotten jobs and moved to that big city we’ve all dreamed about living in.

I’ve always wanted to move to New York, and it’s always scared me. But watching people I know take this big step gives me confidence that I can do as well, and not just live there, but flourish.

I’ve talked myself in and out of the decision many times in the past few years, and the reason is this: yes, it’s scary, but I know what I want to do with my life and that’s the place to do it. New York is the place for artists of all kind, but especially writers. All of the “Big 6” trade publishers have offices in downtown New York City, along with dozens of other publishers and magazines.

It’s the place to make connections and start a career, and I’m ready for it.
