The Traveling Fantasist

Hi everyone! This post is the intro to my blog series “The Traveling Fantasist.” I mentioned it a few weeks ago in this post, but I thought I should have a formal(ish) introduction so that no one thinks they’re suddenly reading the wrong blog.

From July 6th to August 9th, I’ll be studying abroad in Oxford. I’ve waited years and saved up for this, so I’m planning on packing those five weeks full of everything I’ve ever wanted to do.

I decided to blog about my experience for the simple reason that blogging is a part of my life, and it’s one of the easiest ways for me to express myself and learn everything I can from a situation. That being said, this blog series is mostly a selfish venture, but I hope that it will be enjoyable to read as well. Being a travel writer is one of my dreams, and I think blogging will be a great way to practice and get a feel for the genre.

And if you’re wondering, I’m pretty proud of myself for coming up with this title. It’s a play on the name of the Oxford Fantasists, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien (along with some others), who were called such because of the genre they wrote and they place they did it. I’m hoping to be inspired by Oxford the same way they were.

If you could care less about my travels (you won’t hurt my feelings, I promise), I’ll still be posting about writing at least once a week, so stick around! Otherwise, I’m looking forward to exploring Europe and myself this summer, and I hope you’ll join me on this journey!

  1. Awesome, you’ll be in my home country? Where are you from? Will follow you as it’s always interesting to see how people see your country! Where are you studying? 🙂

    1. I’m from Dallas, Texas! I’m an English major at Baylor and I’ll be taking a literature class and a theater class. I’m really excited since I’ve never been to the UK before, but hopefully my blogs do it justice 🙂 Thanks for following!
